Stumbling at low rev
05/12/09 7:32 PM

I've tried almost everything and still trying to solve the issue.
The bike has flies out for two years now with no problem but recently it started to stumble at 1500 rpm. The stumble goes away when I used a fuel injector cleaner( assumption -made the fuel run richer therefore making up for a leak in throttle body)

I tested the fuel flow, subthrottle , main throttle sensors, engine compression and placed new air filter, spark plugs.
I also removed the throttle bodies and cleaned the pilot air screw, dust seals( seals around the injectors had sand and gunk so there is suspicion of an air leak).

I will continue my test by measuring the fuel pressure and injector spray pattern. At this point I am not sure were the problem is coming from there are no fi error messages to point me in the right direction I wonder if the ECU has glitched or i just need new injectors.

I hope someone can help!
Thanks in advance,
Will -desperate to have a smooth ride again

1. test I had cylinder #2 cold, rest warm
2. primary winding with range, secondary winding 8.5-11.5 my result was ~12.2 ohms for each one are no more off than 10%

I am not sure how to sink a throttle body is this what you refer to using a manometer or carbtune?
After doing some research it looks like a throttle body tune is what I need to smooth up the idle and low revs.

Hey Hub, as you were mentioning you shouldn't get shocked by holding a spark plug to a block (since there's no path between the coils through you to ground). I had a really weird and crappy experience on my old GS850 where I was diagnosing a power issue on the #2 cylinder and with the engine running I pulled the lead from the plug to determine isolate the #2 and to my surprised I was being shocked (no I wasn't holding onto the bike).

The only thing i could think of was bad wires (breaks in the outer jacket allowing the current to arc) but I was wondering if you had any other ideas.

Hey Hub,
I just want to thank you on your input, I just replaced the coil that was giving me a cold pipe on start up and the problem is solved.
